Trail Magic Chalet is located in beautiful Canaan Valley in West Virginia.

The chalet was designed by our family for families. When we considered names for our house, we thought of our own positive experiences in the outdoors and the joy a bit of kindness brings us - Trail Magic.
We chose to commit to providing a little bit of trail magic to our guests, to make your stay with us relaxing and memorable. Your enjoyment, peace, and relaxation matter to us, and we have read many heart-warming reviews and notes in our guest book.

Canaan Valley provides many recreational opportunities year-round. Whether you enjoy downhill or cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, or golfing, there are many activities from which to choose. An adventure backpack is available to you, filled with activities to keep your kids active and discovering. Our curated binder is full of suggestions. Or perhaps you just want to enjoy the view from the deck with a cup of tea or coffee or glass of wine.

The chalet is decorated seasonally, and we strive to provide neat experiences. In the warmer months, you will see the frequently-visited hummingbird feeder on the balcony. In the cooler months, we switch to a regular bird feeder. Dry firewood will be ready for you to enjoy in our fireplace. Typically, we also have cut kindling available. For the winter holidays, the house is decorated with a tree and lights.

We are dog friendly and only require a reasonable dog fee of $65. Please see below as to what amenities we provide for your pooch.

Accommodations

Trail Magic Chalet comfortably sleeps 10. Sleeping areas are divided into upstairs and downstairs, making it ideal for two families to have their own private sleeping arrangements and bathrooms. It is also ideal for one large family or several couples.

Upstairs sleeps 4 (or 5 with trundle). You will find the spacious loft with a queen bed and bathroom. Even farther upstairs is the Eagles Nest with its two twin beds and another twin bed in form of a trundle. This space is a favorite especially among kids that can safely climb a ships ladder. You will also find a noise machine to help kids sleep soundly in the Eagles Nest.

Downstairs sleeps 6. You will find the large master bedroom with its queen bed as well as the bunk room with two bunks and a full-size bed. This level also features a master bath with a jacuzzi tub and the washer and dryer. The lower level provides access to the lower deck with tables and Adirondack chairs as well as our new hot tub.

Amenities

We made every effort to set up the house with everything it needs, and then some. We have also made appropriate changes based on guest feedback as we want you to feel completely at home.

• Internet with very reliable 150 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload connection for concurrent streaming, video-conferencing, etc.
• Strong WiFi signal throughout the house
• Three large Smart TVs in the master bedroom (1080p), bunk room (4k), and the living room (4k 55" on mantle mount to adjust height and viewing angle)
• Blu-ray / DVD player with a very large collection of movies and shows

• USB-A ports for charging devices in every bedroom as well as near the kitchen counter

Kitchen

January 2024 Updates!

The kitchen was originally upgraded with new stainless steel appliances and hardware in 2021. In 2024, cabinets were painted, laminate countertops were replaced with a beautiful Quartz countertop, a gorgeous, large copper sink was installed, and the peninsula was replaced with a new island. Additionally, the dining area now features a rustic table and stylish chairs.

We consistently receive great reviews of how well our kitchen is stocked. Too often have we experienced insufficient kitchens in our travels. So we put our kitchen to the ultimate test! We spent Thanksgiving with extended family at Trail Magic, and the only item we had to bring from home was a large roasting pan for the turkey.

• All major appliances in the kitchen are stainless steel and were purchased new in 2021.

  Please note: No glassware in the hot tub! Please use the plastic wine glasses or cups.

• Books for kids in the Eagles Nest
• New 6-person hot tub under its own roof, which is rare in the area. Enjoy your soak no matter the weather.
  Children must be supervised in the hot tub at all times!

Linens & Towels

• Each bathroom is stocked with fresh towels
• Additional bath and hot tub towels are provided in the downstairs closet
• New washer and dryer laundry center installed in 2022

Dogs

As we are dog owners ourselves, we want your pet to be comfortable and taken care of. Therefore, we provide a large dog crate, two dog bowls, dog towels, and, of course, dog treats! Please note we only allow dogs at Trail Magic Chalet.

Miscellaneous

• All switches in the house are clearly labeled. No need to guess what that one does
• Boot and glove dryer
• Dry firewood is typically provided seasonally. There may also be a bucket of kindling available to you
• Adventure backpack for the kids! Send them outside and let them explore around the house (or on your trip)
• Foldable table and chair in the master bedroom closet to work from home

Vehicle Information

• There is room to park two large or three smaller vehicles
• While our house is on the lower part of the mountain and roads are maintained, winter weather typically necessitates 4WD or AWD as well as chains
• Access to the neighborhood is restricted by a gate requiring a gate code (provided by property management upon check-in)
• Additional parking can be found in an overflow lot outside the gate
• Please do not block roads or other driveways
